Pit furnaces are used for all thermochemical heat treatment processes, especially for nitriding, nitro-carburizing and carburizing of large gear parts. They are primarily used by commercial and in-house hardening shops. Due to their simple handling and adaptability to the most variable operation conditions pit furnaces are often chosen for constantly changing heat treatment processes.
